Learn how to set up a chess board step-by-step
Step 1: When setting up a chess board
Make sure the square on the bottom right corner is a light square
Step 2: Put the pawns on the board
All white pawns should go on the 2nd row from the bottom
And all black pawns should go on the 2nd row from the top
Step 3: Place the rooks (castles) on the board
White rooks go in the corners behind the White pawns
Black rooks go in the corners behind the Black pawns
Step 4: Place Knights (Horses) on the board
Place the white knights next to the white rooks
And the black knights next to the black rooks
Step 5: Place bishops on the board
Place the white bishops next to the white knights
And the black bishops next to the black knights
Step 6: Putting the Queens on the board
Place the white queen on the light square
And the black queen on the dark square
Step 7: Placing the Kings on the board
In the remaining squares, put the Kings
Step 8: Now you are ready to play :)
