The Owen defence is some what common and occurs frequently enough that only serious chess players should be familiar and study it. From the data, you can expect that White will have a high 53.65% chance of winning, while Black should have a 46.35% chance of winning. Because of the fact that this opening occurs somewhat commonly and that White has such a high expected chance of winning, it is definitely well worth it to study this variation. Since if it does occur (and you are White) you should have a significant edge.
